Fostering

Foster parents offer a safe, temporary home environment to animals entrusted in their care and assist in evaluating habits and behaviours in order to offer more detailed information for prospective new owners. All animals must be kept indoors at all times.

Foster parents give love, care and attention to special needs animals such as nursing mothers, animals recovering from surgery, stress animals, etc. Once the rehabilitation process is completed the animal is then returned to Action in order to find a permanent new family.

Foster parents are also responsible for feeding, exercising, grooming and general evaluations of the animals.

The average length of time that any animal is in Foster care varies from approximately 6 weeks to 6 months.

Foster parents are responsible for the cost of food. Veterinary expenses are paid by Action from public donations.
